Catching Up After a Hectic Spring

Wide-angle view of Blackham Coliseum in Lafayette, Louisiana, during setup for a roller derby bout. The concrete arena floor features a taped flat track outlined in blue, surrounded by red barriers and rows of empty chairs. The stands are empty, and the overhead lights brightly illuminate the expansive venue.

Hey y’all — it’s been a while. I had to take a little break from posting here thanks to a busy stretch of work and a minor health issue (I’m doing okay now, promise 💜). Life kind of took over for a bit, but I’m easing back in and excited to share what I’ve been up to.

Back in March, I worked Bewhiskered, a furry convention in Durham, NC. I was part of the video crew in the main room, helping assemble and configure a massive LED wall, then running visuals through Resolume all weekend. It was a fast-paced, collaborative environment, and getting to be behind the scenes of something so creative and community-driven was genuinely rewarding.

Closer to home, I also worked MTAC — the Middle Tennessee Anime Convention here in Nashville. I spent that weekend running A/V and making sure panelists could connect to projectors without too much tech drama. It was the kind of gig where you’re constantly moving, solving problems on the fly, and doing your best to keep things running smoothly behind the curtain.

Most recently, I just got back from a trip to Louisiana, where I had the chance to announce with my original roller derby league, Acadiana Roller Derby. It felt good to be back — reconnecting with my roots, seeing familiar faces, and supporting a league that helped shape who I am in this community.

As always, I had my Canon AE-1 with me — this time loaded with CineStill 800T, perfect for low-light and convention chaos. I shot a few rolls at Bewhiskered, and I’m looking forward to seeing how they turn out.

Thanks for sticking around — more updates (and hopefully some film scans) coming soon.
